Dinner with a Perfect Stranger by David Gregory

Carolyn B. Thompson, President, TRAINING SYSTEMS INC, just finished reading:

How Incredible Would This Be - Having Dinner With Jesus!
Jesus explains the difference between Heaven and eternal life.  He explains why you can be in relationship with God and still be doing poorly. And much more.

So what?, you say. I've read plenty of books that explain these things.  Ah, but this is written as a story with dialogue, humor and detailed descriptions of the people, the restaurant, the food - and we all know how much easier that is to understand than theory!

My Initial Reaction to the Book

I am not interested in books that try to prove that Christ existed and the questions the man having dinner with Jesus asked weren't the ones I would have.

Why I Liked the Book Anyway

The idea of having a meal with my friend Jesus (I love food and eating together is so intimate) and being able to ask Him anything is really, really appealing. To be in His bodily presence is a dream come true for me.

My Favorite Parts

The man at dinner said "the answers you've given me, why haven't I heard these things before?". Jesus replied that church hierarchies crowd out the truth. My favorite line from the man - "If this is what Chistianity is all about, why doesn't the church say it?"

And finally, His explanation of why He died for our sins is the only one I've every really understood. Since this is the centerpiece of the Christian faith it was a crucial read for me.
